University of St Andrews praises Trakka

September 13, 2016

St Andrews University begins operations with a Trakka Systems SWE-400 LE specially tailored with stills camera and the TM-100 mapping system, to perform helicopter seal counts along the Scottish coast. Feedback is that the system has delivered significantly enhanced effectiveness, in no small measure due to the conceptualisation and realisation of a system customised to the users requirements. It also marks the first operational deployment of Trakka’s TM-100 mapping system, with very positive user feedback.

“The Trakka team engaged with us on our camera project from concept to actual survey. The Trakka team worked with us to tailor a solution that simplified our tasks, which included linking mapping software, thermal identification, high resolution video and high resolution still shots of the seals we were searching for. All of this resulted in a significant improvement in our survey effectiveness. We found the Trakka team very focused on solving our mission objectives and very responsive to our requirements.”  Sea Mammal Research Unit Scottish Oceans Institute
